What is DS-7002 (Training Plan)?

Information about The Form DS-7002, Training/Internship Placement Plan or T/IPP

The Form DS-7002, Training/Internship Placement Plan (T/IPP), or normally called a “Training Plan” is a controlled document of the U.S. Department of State and an integral part of a BridgeUSA J-1 Intern or Trainee Program. The document represents a framework or summary of activities that a participant and their host company follow for the duration of their program in the United States.

A formal training plan is required in order to ensure that every participant in the program gets valuable and relevant professional and personal development during their training and a better understanding of American culture through cultural activities and other means.

ITN & Odyssey International Exchange work together with the host companies in order to complete and sign a Form DS-7002. It is important to us to make sure that the training activities are appropriate to the program objectives. The Training Plan is the most important part of the application and it must be signed by the Supervisor, Intern/Trainee and Odyssey before the issuance of the DS-2019.

Training Plans need to state specific goals and objectives of the J-1 Intern/Trainee Program through different phases of the program. Also, they detail the knowledge, skills, techniques and learnings that will be accumulated by the participant. It is important for the program participant to review and understand the specific goals and objectives of their program in the United States.

The Form DS-7002 will be needed and required at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate during a J-1 Visa Interview. Training Plans need to state a specific goals and objectives of the J-1 Intern/Trainee Program through different phases of the program.
