The 2-Year Home Requirement or Rule 212 (e), as it is often described, is a regulation associated with certain J-1 Visa categories, including but not limited to the J-1 Intern and Trainee Programs. This rule requires participants to return to their home country or country of last residence for a minimum of two years upon completion of their J-1 Exchange Program in the United States.
