Description of the Host Property:
The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages, located on Shelter Island, offers an exceptional luxury experience with breathtaking views of Crescent Beach. This exclusive waterfront retreat combines timeless elegance with modern amenities, providing guests with a range of accommodations from charming rooms to private cottages. The hotel features an upscale restaurant, a heated outdoor pool, and access to various recreational activities, including tennis and boating.


Description of the Training:
Gain invaluable skills and knowledge in the Food and Beverage department of a world-leading luxury hotel/resort through a J-1 hospitality internship or traineeship program at The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages. During your program, you will receive training and mentorship from industry leaders in the F&B field as you rotate through different outlets on the property. This rotational program is designed to give you exposure to the international hospitality industry and give you the experience to excel in your career when you return to your home country.

Unlike most J-1 Program providers, a regional ITN representative will guide you through a streamlined registration process, thanks to ITN and ODYSSEY’s all-inclusive approach. ITN and ODYSSEY will be on hand to provide you with the very best personalized service from the time that you arrive in the United States until your departure from the United States upon completion of your program.

Description of the Location:
Shelter Island, New York, is a charming and serene destination located between the North and South Forks of Long Island. Accessible only by ferry, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Known for its natural beauty, the island features lush landscapes, scenic beaches, and historic landmarks, including the Shelter Island Historical Society and the Mashomack Preserve. Outdoor activities like hiking, boating, and fishing are popular, while its small-town atmosphere is perfect for a quiet retreat. With its rich history, art galleries, and fine dining, Shelter Island is a hidden gem on Long Island's East End.


Requirements

  • Conversational English required. 

  • Must be a current student of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution. 

  • Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution. 

  • Or a graduate of a Hospitality or Tourism post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience.

  • Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.

  • Start Date: April & May, 2025

  • Duration: 6 months

  • Stipend: $10.65/hour

  • Accommodation: Accommodation is provided by the host company at an additional cost.
